If you are in crisis right now, please pause and reach out. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911, or tell someone near you. You do not have to carry this alone for one more minute. Please know this before anything else. You matter, and there are people who want to help you right now.
The short answer
The Bible treats every human life as precious because we are made in God's image, and God loves you more than you can imagine. Deep pain and despair are real, and Scripture is full of hurting people God met with tenderness. If you are struggling, please reach out immediately, to 988, to 911, or to someone who can help. You are worth saving.
God loves you and made you with worth
You are not an accident. God formed you with care and knows you completely, and your life has value that despair cannot erase.
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."Psalm 139:14
God's love for you is not distant or theoretical. It moved Him to give His own Son for you.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."Romans 5:8
God is near to the brokenhearted
If your heart is crushed, you are exactly the kind of person God draws close to. He does not turn away from your pain.
"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."Psalm 34:18
Jesus gives a gentle, personal invitation to everyone weighed down and worn out, and that invitation includes you.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."Matthew 11:28
Even God's servants have felt despair
You are not weak or faithless for hurting this deeply. Some of the strongest people in the Bible felt they could not go on, and God cared for them tenderly.
"But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die."1 Kings 19:4
God did not scold His prophet Elijah. He gave him rest, food, gentleness, and a future. The darkness that feels permanent right now is not permanent.
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."Psalm 30:5
A common misunderstanding
Many people believe the lie that everyone would be better off without them, or that their pain will never lift. Please hear the truth. Those feelings, as real and heavy as they are, are not telling you the truth about your value or your future. You are loved. You are needed. The way you feel right now can change, and help is real. Reaching out is not weakness. It is one of the bravest and wisest things a person can do. Please call or text 988, or call 911, and let someone walk with you.
