When a son or daughter walks away from the Lord, the home that raised them can feel like a place of constant ache. You replay the years, you question yourself, and you carry a worry that never fully sleeps. Hear this clearly: God is not finished with your child, and He hears every prayer you whisper for them.
Jesus told this very story
The Lord painted a picture of a wandering child and a watching father, and the ending is hope.
"And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran..."Luke 15:20
The father in the story never stopped watching the road. Neither does our heavenly Father, and neither should you.
God keeps His promises to the next generation
The truth a child was taught does not simply vanish. God's Word has a way of finding them again.
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."Proverbs 22:6
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void..."Isaiah 55:11
What a praying parent can do
- Pray without quitting. Bring your child to God by name, every day, and do not lose heart.
- Keep the door open. Let your love be steady so the road home is always clear.
- Live the gospel before them. A consistent walk preaches when words cannot.
- Trust God with the timing. His delays are not His denials.
You do not have to carry this alone
The waiting is long and the nights are hard, but you were never meant to bear this by yourself. Let us pray with you for your child and stand with you in the believing. Reach out to our pastor in confidence. We would be honored to lift up your prodigal alongside you.
