What independent means

Most churches belong to a denomination that sets policy from a central office. An independent church does not. The congregation, led by its pastor, makes its own decisions according to Scripture. This follows the pattern of local churches in the New Testament, each accountable to Christ. Independent churches still fellowship and cooperate with other churches of like faith.

What Baptist means

Baptist churches hold to historic Bible beliefs, including salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, baptism by immersion for those who have believed, the Bible as the final authority for faith and practice, and the local church as God's plan for His people.
