Our Beliefs

Believer's Baptism: What It Means

Believer's baptism is the immersion in water of a person who has already trusted Jesus Christ as Savior. At Greenwood Bible Baptist Church, we baptize believers by immersion because that is the clear pattern of the New Testament. Baptism does not save, but it obeys and pictures the gospel.

Believer's Baptism

An outward picture of an inward change

Baptism is a step of obedience for someone who has already been saved. In the Bible, people first believed on Christ and then were baptized by immersion in water. It does not wash away sin or earn salvation. It publicly pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and the new life of the believer.

Because baptism follows salvation, we baptize those who can understand and personally trust Christ as their Savior. It is a joyful testimony that says to the world, "I belong to Jesus." We would count it a privilege to help you understand and take this step.

If you have trusted Christ and want to be baptized, or you have questions about what it means, reach out and the pastor will be glad to talk with you.
